A new business that hasn’t even officially opened yet in Montrose has been making the rounds the past couple weeks, drumming up interest at local hot spots, as well as on social media.
But HotWorx (stylized HOTWORX), a new 24-hour fitness center, plans to open sometime in March or April.
The company is a chain whose closest location is in Grand Junction. It specializes in high-temperature workouts for individuals or small groups and operates by offering memberships.
It will be located in the Colorado Outdoors flex buildings, which already house businesses like Trattoria di Sofia and Montrose Anglers.
Signage is already up on the suite where the business will be located.
Nadia Barrett will manage the Montrose location after working at the Grand Jucntion location, the first HotWorx location on the Western Slope, for the past 18 months. Barrett is originally from Montrose and has spent some time here, off and on, since 2011.
“Our Palisade owners were like, ‘Hey if you have the opportunity, get to Montrose,’” Barrett said. “I was able to get enough people to say they’d be interested, and now we’re in the phase of presales.”
Along with the private setting provided by the HotWorx studio, Barrett says the 24-hour aspect is the most appealing part of the business to those looking for a workout.
Once someone purchases a membership, they can book sessions online. And only 1-3 people are allowed in each sauna.
Four of the rooms have equipment, like a stationary bicycle, elliptical, rowing machine and more.
“And then we have 45-minute sessions which would be yoga, hot pilates, hot bar none and a hot band session.”
Their functional training area in the back has free weights as well as other weight-lifting equipment.
Members are able to book sessions, 24/7, on the HotWorx app, so they can use the gym as often or as seldom as they like, Barrett said.
While the suite at Colorado Outdoors is undergoing permit approvals and construction, Barrett and company have been visiting local coffee shops and getting people signed up ahead of time.
