Relax, Renew, Revitalize. These words are the slogan for the Montrose Day Spa, located at 1544 Oxbow Dr., Ste. 180 and they describe all that guests can expect from their visit.
Correna Montoya and Nancy Morton-Kaiser, two 30-year career women bought the spa last September. They had both grown up in Silverton, the daughters of gold miners. Each has fond memories of the small town attributes of their years in the community of 800.
Montoya and her husband moved to Montrose in 1993 and Morton-Kaiser and her husband several years later after attending Fort Lewis College. Successful in their careers–Montoya as a V.P. of Land Title Company of Montrose and Delta and Morton-Kaiser as a mortgage loan officer at the Bank of Colorado, they were looking for something to enrich their lives.
“We had always admired women who had taken the risk to start their own businesses,” Montoya said. “We were looking for a challenge,” she added. A friend told them that the spa was going on the market and with their business experience the friends spent two months checking all the details.
The manager and the nine beauty and wellness specialists, with more than 40 years combined experience, stayed with the business. The spa offers a variety of treatments from massages and advanced skincare treatments, waxing, CryoSlimming and teeth whitening.
“I realized that as young women we weren’t taught about self care,” Montoya reflected. “You don’t know what you don’t know.”
They have each tried out the many treatments at the spa and their glowing skin reflects the benefits of use of the natural organic skin care products.
The partners added their own unique ideas after purchasing the spa. Clients can relax in a comfortable and tranquil lounge before beginning their treatments. The Day Spa is the only spa in Montrose with a liquor license.
The lounge area features a bar offering both cocktails and mocktails. The mixers are made from organic, health-inspired ingredients. The lounge room offers a space for private events such as birthday parties, bridal showers and girl’s night out. In warm weather groups can gather in the covered outdoor patio to extend the celebrations.
The partners are excited about their new enterprise and look forward to sharing the beauty and wellness aspects with the Montrose community.
