Montrose has a brand new healthcare facility, as Montrose Regional Health Ambulatory Care Center opened for some patient services on Monday. The 4-story building brings a new and streamlined patient experience to the Western Slope.
Brad Wiersma, Marketing Director for Montrose Regional Health, talked about the details the community should know. In particular, he talked about the grand opening that is set for Thursday, April 25, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
“It’s really that big moment for the community to see everything that we have for them here,” he said. “They can walk around, look at all the different services, and see the areas. One of the things that’s going to be available to our patients at that time; is Imaging at River Landing, which is going to include an MRI and a CT Scanner.”
It doesn’t take long for the facility to leave a good impression. As soon as you enter the sliding doors, a spacious and welcoming lobby awaits. Immediately inside of the doors is a full directory to where all offices are located, and the area off to the left side of the lobby is set to be a coffee shop, effectively an offshoot of the Lobby Grille at Montrose’s Hospital.
The first floor contains several offices including a lab, endoscopy, and Mountain View Therapy.
The second floor houses Alpine Women’s Center, Western Slope Orthopedics, and a recent addition to Montrose-area care: a Spine & Pain Center.
The third floor now hosts Cedar Point Health, which will move most of its services to the new location soon.
The fourth floor is slated to open up as the River Landing Surgical Center in the summer.
Access to each floor can be found via the two elevators installed at the center of the building. Even the elevator’s housing is striking, from the outside of the building, one can see that it is decorated with textured metal art, which quite intentionally bears a resemblance to the Black Canyon’s magnificent Painted Wall formation.
Wiersma clarified a detail the community may want to know about the title of the Care Center.
“One thing that folks should know; we call it the ambulatory care center. A lot of times people think ‘ambulance’, and that’s not what we have associated here. Ambulatory really means outpatient care. And the hospital is the place we’ll have our overnight stays,” he said.
The project was announced in 2022, and Denver-based NexCore Group, which partnered with MRH and leased the land from them, broke ground on the 80,000 square-foot outpatient care center in the fall of 2022. It is meant to serve Montrose and surrounding counties, including San Miguel, Ouray, Gunnison, Delta, Hinsdale and San Juan.
The addition to Montrose’s healthcare network is located at 3330 S Rio Grande Avenue. Any questions can be submitted to Leann Tobin, CMO at Montrose Regional Health, at 970-240-7344.
