SOM Footwear LLC is up for sale, according to the founders and owners of the company, Nathalie Bouchard and Olie Marchal.
Production will end in the next two weeks, according to the announcement sent to local customers via email.
Their website will offer available inventory while supplies last.
“It is not easy to decide to end a twelve-year journey. We’ve been fortunate to count on you and thousands of happy customers along the way. It was a joyful ride that we would restart in a heartbeat despite all the hiccups that came with it here and there,” the email reads. “We owe our success to your support and loyalty. We ensured we treated every one of our customers the same way we would have loved to be treated: fairly and equally. We feel it was a win-win relationship and are deeply grateful for the experience.”
The factory is located in Montrose (at 1006 N. Cascade Ave.), but the company stated in its email blast that it is relocatable.
SOM (Sense of Motion) Footwear was launched in 2014 after Marchal experienced back pain due to running.
In 2020, the company took a hiatus from making shoes to make masks for the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It is time to pass the flame to a new generation of passionate people who want to pursue the American-made dream. If you know anyone who might be interested, please send them our way. We will make sure they talk to our agent,” the email states.
