Montrose County recently appointed Assistant County Manager Emily Sanchez to interim county manager. Sanchez’s term as interim county manager overlaps with County Manager Jon Waschbusch’s departure to ensure a seamless transition.
Sanchez has served as assistant county manager since last year.
She previously served as the project manager and grant coordinator for the county, starting in 2022. Before that, she was the Montrose County Fairground and Event Center director for more than five years.
Following public input and further work session discussion, the Board of County Commissioners approved an external search for the county manager in accordance with Title 24. The county manager job description is currently posted internally and will be posted externally on July 24. The posting will close on August 14, 2024.
The Board of County Commissioners remains committed to finding a qualified individual to fill the county manager position. This extended search will allow them to identify the best possible candidate for the role.
