Montrose City Council Tuesday night approved liquor licenses for three businesses: two restaurants and a bar.
San Juan Coffeehouse, soon to change to San Juan Brews, is an existing business at 512 E. Main St.
That business was recently sold, and the new owners plan to serve beer at the location. City council unanimously approved the business’ application.
Tacos and Beer plans to open a second location in downtown Montrose. Their liquor license was also unanimously approved.
The third approved is a new business, Corner Taps, at 35 N. Cascade Ave.
Owners Valerie and Jeff Perrin were present at the City Council meeting to speak on behalf of the business, and spoke some about their plans.
“We’re trying to clean up the place a little bit,” Valerie said. “We’ve heard some bad things about the previous businesses at the location.”
She said they had a hand in Sidelines Sports Bar opening just a block away and wanted something similar, but smaller.
They have added 11 TVs and want a sports bar feel that is welcoming to families.
Previous bars at the 35 N. Cascade location have had their liquor licenses revoked or have been denied renewal of their liquor licenses.
Mayor J. David Reed said he’s looking forward to new business owners taking over the space.
The owners didn’t say when the bar would open.
