This weekend, Montrose holiday shoppers have the chance to support small businesses and possibly win, when they shop local for Small Business Saturday.
The shopping holiday set to deliver a blend of holiday cheer, local shopping incentives and festive activities. With a new Candy Land Christmas theme, the city is putting a spin on its annual holiday tradition, making it a memorable kickoff to the shopping season.
“The theme for the holidays this year for all city events is Candy Land Christmas,” said Michelle Wingfield, the Development and Revitalization Team (DART) coordinator.
The Montrose Bucks Sale returns this year, and they allow shoppers to get more bang for their buck.
For every $50 in Montrose Bucks purchased, shoppers receive $60 in value to spend at participating businesses.
With a limit of $400 per household (totaling $480 in Montrose Bucks). The offer could sell out, as bucks are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited.
“It’s just Small Business Saturday,” the organizer noted, urging participants to act fast to take advantage of the deal.
Shoppers can buy Montrose Bucks at the Community Room in the Public Safety Complex at 434 S. 1st Street.
Candy Land Quest Brings Fun to
Holiday Shopping
New this year is a Candy Land-inspired board game activity, encouraging shoppers to visit local stores with the chance to win more Montrose Bucks.
“We’re doing a board game where people can shop at participating businesses, have their board game signed off on, and then win,” Wingfield said.
Participants who visit at least three locations and make a purchase can submit their completed boards at the Montrose Visitor Center the following week.
“The first 15 people to turn their card in get a $20 Montrose Bucks gift card,” Wingfield said.
Shop Local, Support the Community
Montrose’s Small Business Saturday isn’t just about deals—it’s about community. “Shopping local is essentially investing in our community,” said one organizer. “The more we can support small businesses, the more our community will thrive.”
With a wide variety of participating businesses, from boutique stores to art galleries, shoppers can find unique gifts that add personality to their holiday giving.
“Shopping at smaller, boutique stores or art galleries is a really great way to find something you can’t find anywhere else,” Wingfield said.
Where to Find Details
A complete list of participating businesses has been posted on the Small Business Saturday Facebook event and the city’s website.
Montrose organizers are hopeful that this event will not only attract holiday shoppers but also reinforce the importance of local spending during the holiday season.
As Montrose prepares for its festive Candy Land Christmas, residents and visitors alike are encouraged to shop small and support local business.
