A new episode of The New Fly Fisher will premiere Saturday night in Montrose, highlighting the transformation of the Uncompahgre River and the community effort behind its revival.
The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. on April 25 at Shelter Distilling and is free to attend.
The episode follows the show’s crew as they travel to Montrose to explore the rehabilitation work that has reshaped the Uncompahgre — often referred to locally as “The Unc” — into a central feature of the community. Once overlooked, the river is now a destination for recreation, fly fishing and local business activity, drawing both residents and visitors.
The film is said to focus on the collaboration between conservation groups, anglers, local leaders and community partners who helped reimagine the river corridor. The project is framed as an example of how coordinated local efforts can restore natural resources while supporting economic and community development.
The New Fly Fisher, a television and online series, highlights fishing destinations around the world while offering educational content for anglers of all skill levels. The program frequently features insights from guides and outfitters and explores fish behavior, techniques and conservation efforts.
Saturday’s premiere is open to the public.
