News Release
The Ute Indian Museum has installed permanent metal replicas of the seals representing the three Ute tribes, replacing flags that were frequently damaged by the strong winds common in the Uncompahgre Valley.
The new display, located on the north side of the museum, features the seals of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, the Uintah and Ouray Reservation and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe.
The project was funded by the Friends of the Ute Indian Museum, the museum’s nonprofit fundraising organization.
According to museum officials, the installation is expected to reduce long-term maintenance costs by eliminating the need to regularly replace weather-damaged flags.
Facility Director Chris Cooper installed the metal seals.
