Delta-Montrose Electric Association has announced a series of leadership changes, including the retirement of a longtime executive and the promotion and reassignment of several senior staff members.
Chief Safety Officer Chad Sticker will retire this fall after 34 years with DMEA.
Sticker began his career with the electric cooperative as an apprentice before becoming a journeyman lineman. He later served as a foreman, superintendent and safety director before becoming chief safety officer.
DMEA credited Sticker with helping advance workplace safety and build the cooperative’s safety culture during his career.
The cooperative also announced Katie Yergensen has been promoted to chief communications officer. Yergensen, who joined DMEA in 2025, will oversee communications, marketing, brand strategy and member and community engagement for DMEA and its Elevate broadband subsidiary.
Several other executives will take on new or expanded roles as part of the organizational restructuring.
Mateusz Pena will serve as chief technical officer, overseeing engineering, power supply and Elevate.
Sarah Abbott will become chief administrative officer, overseeing human resources, safety, legislative affairs, inventory and facilities. She will also continue serving as DMEA’s general counsel.
Jay Suckey will serve as chief service officer, with responsibility for information technology, billing and customer service representatives.
“Strong organizations build leaders at every level,” DMEA CEO Jack Johnston said. “These changes reflect the depth of talent across our team and our commitment to preparing the next generation of leadership.”
Johnston said the changes are intended to better position DMEA and Elevate for continued growth and innovation while maintaining electric and broadband services for their members and customers.
DMEA said the restructuring is intended to strengthen coordination between its electric and broadband operations and prepare the cooperative for future organizational needs.
